De HvA Experience: Turn on Your Future!
Making new connections
September 2024 – At the start of the new academic year, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) faced an important challenge: how do you introduce first-year students to the wide variety of HvA organisations and the vibrant student community in a surprising way? Our team was given the honour of creating and organising a unique event, with the mission of giving students a warm welcome and showing them all the opportunities HvA offers beyond their studies. HvA’s ambition is not only to help students grow academically, but also to stimulate their personal and social development. That’s why they wanted an event that would be not only informative, but also inspiring, interactive, and entertaining.
Turn on your future
With the concept “Turn on Your Future”, we created a full-on experience that seamlessly reflected HvA’s core values: fun, connection, and knowledge sharing. During the event, students literally stepped through a futuristic Portal into their new adventure. This symbol marked the beginning of their journey at HvA, where they could immediately connect with 40 different HvA organisations and 20 student and study associations. The event offered not only information but also a dynamic atmosphere full of fun and interaction. Highlights included our cargo bike DJ spinning futuristic beats, and a robot host warmly welcoming the newcomers. At the A.I. Juice Bar, students received a personalised drink based on a facial scan: an innovative touch that served up not only refreshing beverages but also plenty of surprised and amused reactions.
No experience without entertainment!
“Turn on Your Future” offered students an exciting introduction to everything HvA has to offer, designed to guide them on their journey to the future in an interactive way. It was a day filled with entertainment, information, and personal connections, laying the foundation for the rest of their time at HvA.
Looking back, we can proudly say that HvA’s goal was achieved: new students were welcomed into their new environment in an innovative and accessible way. They not only met their fellow students and discovered the student community, but also got an inspiring glimpse of what the coming years will bring.
